What to look for in used parts & other equipment

• Part numbers: verify fit with the manufacturer or the parts lookup before buying.
• New old stock versus used, and whether used parts were pulled from a running unit.
• On attachments: the mount (skid steer quick attach, pin-on or three-point) and the pin or coupler size.
• On hose, fittings and hydraulic parts: thread size, pressure rating and wear at the ends.
• On pumps and cylinders: rebuild history, seal kits included, and a test if possible.
• Lots: ask for a list before you drive out for a pallet of unknowns.

How do I know a part fits my machine?

Match the part number, or use the parts lookup to cross-reference it against your make and model. When a seller lists a number, check it before you go.

What is a cross-reference?

The same part sold under different numbers by the OEM and aftermarket makers. The lookup shows equivalents so you can buy whichever is available and cheapest.

Can I return a part that does not fit?

Local pickup sales are between you and the seller. Confirm fit before you pay, and ask the seller if they will take it back if it is wrong.

Are used hydraulic cylinders worth buying?

Yes if they hold pressure and the rod is unscored. Ask the seller to cap it and pressurize it, or budget for a reseal.
