Forklifts here come from warehouses, shops and dealers turning over fleet. Listings include electric, propane and diesel forklifts, reach trucks, order pickers and telehandlers. Every listing is local pickup: you inspect it, run it and pay at the seller's yard.

What to look for in used forklifts

  • Capacity at your load center, mast height and whether the mast clears your doors and racking.
  • Hours, and on electrics the battery age, charge cycles and a load test result.
  • Mast chains, rollers and forks: fork heel wear over 10 percent is a replacement item.
  • Tires: cushion for smooth floors, pneumatic for yards. Check for chunking and flat spots.
  • Horn, lights, seat belt, backup alarm and a current inspection tag if you need one.

What used forklifts sell for

Used cushion-tire propane forklifts in the 5,000 lb class typically list in the mid single-digit thousands to the low teens. Electric units price similarly but hinge on the battery. Rough-terrain and high-capacity trucks run higher.

Questions buyers ask

Electric or propane?
Electric for indoor use, food and clean environments, and lower running cost. Propane for outdoor, mixed use and shifts that cannot wait for a charge. A used electric with a tired battery can cost as much to fix as the truck.
How do I check a used forklift battery?
Ask for the manufacture date on the battery, look for corrosion and low water, and run the truck under load until the discharge meter drops. A battery over five or six years old is near the end.
What does capacity at load center mean?
Rated capacity assumes the load's center is 24 inches from the fork face. Longer or wider loads reduce what the truck can safely lift. Check the data plate, and never lift beyond it.
Do I need training to operate a forklift?
Yes. OSHA requires employer-provided training and evaluation for every operator. Buying the truck does not change that.
